In Memoriam

EDEN GRAY

She is (in no small measure) responsible for bringing "Tarot education and awareness" to the United States.

What does this have to do with me?   Well, after pouring through my own copies of:

The Complete Guide to the Tarot

Mastering the Tarot

and The Tarot Revealed

(all excellent texts for students of the Rider-Waite System of Tarot)

I had the opportunity to meet her.

She retired in Vero Beach and Evelyn Neville,( who owned the Psychic Bookstore in Vero ) was good friends with her.  We went to lunch and Madam Gray talked about the intricacies of Kabbalah and the Tarot, as though she was talking about the menu.  At the end of our meeting, she autographed my (WAY too worn) copy of The Tarot Revealed : "To Kim, a lovely new friend".

I hold Eden Gray's works involving Tarot as some of those most significant in the Tarot community. To me, she was "mentor for a moment" and I cherish that, when I think of my Tarot Journey.  I've loved and honored all of the teachers who have brought me (Tarot) wisdom.   But long before there was Mary K. Greer and Rachel Pollack and Benebell Wen,

there was Eden Gray.
